Canada Day 1sh of July

What is Canada Day?

From Wikipidia

Canada Day is the national day of Canada. A federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of July 1th, 1867, the effective date of the Constitution Act, 1867(Then called the British North America Act, 1867), which united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada.  Originally called Dominion Day (french Le Jour de la Confédération), the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed.  Canada Day celebrations take place throughout the country, as well as in various locations around the world, attended by Canadians living abroad.

Although still a British colony, Canada gained an increased level of political control and governance over its own affairs, the British parliament and Cabinet maintaining political control over certain areas, such as foreigh affairs, national defence, and constitutional changes.  Canada gradually gained increasing independence over the years, notably with the passage of the Statute  of Westminster in 1931, until finally becoming completely independent with the passing of the Constitution Act, 1982 which served to fully patriate the Canadian Constitution.

Canada Day First of July

Canadian Govenrment is hosting on canada day a huge National Day on the 1 of July which any Canadians living near the Parliament Hill (Ottawa), can attend to celebrate.  All day long there’s activities for children as well, as DIY, games, and fun activities to do.  It is a fun free activity-packed day!

Later in the evening there are guest artists, singers to party and they give a big show and, around 10 O’clock at night we have the most amazing spectacular fireworks.

Many families spend the First of July at Parliament Hill but a lot of family stay home and all together, they have barbecues, and fireworks.  Below are some ideas of how you can quickly and easily create Canada Day fun hunt activities for all ages.

Great Activities for the First of July!

1: Treasure hunt

Print a picture of the Canadian flag,(2 flags) cut in five pieces.   As the hunters search for them to collect and save the pieces. When find all peaces set out a blank sheet of paper and have them reassemble the two flags together and glue it on the paper.

2: Puzzel Map of Canada

Take a map of Canada Print the map (2 copies) keep one copie for original and after cut one and separated all the Provinces and try to reassemble them as a puzzle.  Each Provinces need to be place at its original place between this province and this one.  And if it is to easy add capital (city) of each provinces.  Have a fun finding where they go!!!!

Given that it’s going to be 90 degrees here in the United States (Chicago, Illinois) all week, a water balloon fight sounds marvelous (water explosion! Haha). I love seeing people come together in love, peace, harmony, unity, and with smiles on their faces-our world desperately needs this right now.
